EECP: A Nonsurgical Heart Blockage Treatment
What is EECP? Enhanced External Counter Pulsation (EECP) is a non-invasive treatment given to lower the frequency and intensity of angina episodes. Angina symptoms include chest pain due to contraction or pressure, burning sensation, or fullness. The chest pain can also extend to the shoulders, arms, and lower abdomen. In the EECP Therapy or treatment, three pairs of external cuffs are applied on the lower abdomen, upper legs, and buttocks. The cuffs can inflate and deflate in synchronization with the heartbeat, resulting in increased blood flow to the heart. Principle of EECP treatment The treatment works for increasing blood flow to the heart, increasing oxygen supply to its deficient parts, eventually helping the heart to function better.
